With the appropriate care, your teeth that have had endodontic treatment will last as long as other natural teeth. Yet, a tooth that has received treatment may fail to heal or pain may continue to exist. Sometimes, the pain may occur months or years after treatment. If so, Endodontic Retreatment may be needed.
Improper healing may be caused by:
- Curved or narrow canals that were not treated during the initial treatment.
- Complicated canals that went undetected during the initial treatment.
- The crown or restoration was not placed within the appropriate amount of time following the procedure.
- The crown or restoration that did not prevent saliva from contaminating the inside of the tooth.
Root Material Placed
In some cases, new problems can influence a tooth that was successfully treated:
- New decay can expose a root canal filling material, causing infection.
- A cracked or loose filling or crown can expose the tooth to new infection.
Once retreatment has been selected as a solution to your problem, the doctors will reopen your tooth to gain access to the root canal filling material. This restorative material will be removed to enable access to the root canal. The doctors will now clean your canals and carefully examine the inside of the problematic tooth. Once cleaned, the doctors will fill and seal the canals and place a temporary filling in the tooth.
At this point, you will need to return to your dentist as soon as possible in order to have a new crown or restoration placed on the tooth to restore full functionality.
Dr. Silverman is a very professional dentist. He made sure I understood everything he is doing to my teeth before and after the procedure. I was able to play golf afterm he performed the root canal.I am now pain free.

Dr. Roe carefully explained all my options, their positives and negatives, and potential outcomes. I was very impressed with her caring attitude and even though my tooth was not salvageable, I felt confident that I had all the information that I needed moving forward.

My dentist was out of town at a convention but recommended the office to me - they literally opened their doors and got me in to the Dr. immediately. I was in tremendous pain - so they treated that first then worked on my tooth that was very inflamed. Beautiful office, great customer service and fantastic bedside manner by Dr. Silberman was absolutely wonderful. Thank you to the entire office for making me feel much better.

Dr Silberman is Extremely Friendly, honest, professional Endodontist. True perfectionist. Wish he practiced as a family general dentist as well as being a great Endodontist. Staff friendly and seem genuinely concerned about meeting your needs.

Dr Silberman is amazing! He took great care in explaining everything he was going to do, and explained why he was going to do it. He made the procedure as pain-free as he could, and took time to make sure that I was comfortable thru the entire procedure. Lots of professionalism throughout the staff. Thank you so much.

Rancho Endodontics is a wonderful place for treatment. I was an extremely nervous patient due to a bad experience in the past. Dr. Roe and Leah were SO understanding. They explained everything to me. During the procedure they would asked how I was doing and give me updates as to where we were in the process. It was the BEST retreat root canal ever!!!! A great big THANK YOU to Dr. Roe and Leah for making this procedure such a comfortable experience!!!

Going to the dentist has never been something I have looked forward to, and having a root canal is definitely not at the top of my list of social activities for warm and fuzzy feelings. I have had several root canals done over the years, and Dr. Silberman and his staff have been the absolute best! The root canal Dr. Silberman did for me was complicated because of canals that were hidden and calcified which made them very difficult to find. He spent a lot of time being very thorough and as gentle as can be during these types of procedures; patient comfort is at the top of their list, and it is obvious he and his entire staff love what they are doing. My regular dentist referred me to Dr. Silberman as he said he is the best at what he does, and I must agree..he is absolutely the best! I am so thankful to have a great dentist and a terrific endodontic team. THANK YOU!!!

Dr. Silberman was very comforting and personable to me, he explained my treatment options very clearly. There was no pressure to rush into the treatment and I was encouraged to think about the treatment and consult with my wife and dentist. He was very honest and forthright. I would recommend him to anyone who needs that type of dental help.

This was my first time here. Was referred by Dr. Witek, my normal dentist. You guys were wonderful all the way around! Very nice facility, little tricky to find however, Super friendly staff, I ask a lot of questions and Dr. Petterson was very pleased to answer them. To be quite honest, this procedure was easier that the normal crown procedure. I've already recommended you'all to my daughter so you'll be seeing here shortly!! Do I get a referral fee?? haha!
